CEV Cup: Piacenza and Belchatow take the first step towards quarterfinals

Playoffs of 2022/23 CEV Cup started today with first two games of first leg.

Italy’s Bluenergy Daiko Volley Piacenza confirmed their role to favorite with a clear straight sets win on the field of Romania’s CS Arcada Galati (24:26, 22:25, 18:25).
Despite the absence of Lucarelli (and Leal on the bench, but as a backup libero), the winners struggled only in first set, and then managed to win the game without major problems, led by an almost perfect Robertlandy Simon who ended the game as top scorer with 14 points including 2 winning blocks, 3 aces and 90% in attack!

Away win also for Poland’s PGE Skra Belchatow on the field of Turkey’s Galatasaray HDI Sigorta Istanbul. The game ended in four sets (20:25, 25:17, 22:25, 21:25), with 22 points by Serb Aleksandar Atanasijevic (1 ace, 1 block and 63% in attack).
Thomas Edgar, on the losing side, was the top scorer of the match with 25 points.
