Champions League: ZAKSA eliminated Perugia to join Jastrzebski in all-Polish Superfinal!

Two sets were enough for Polish powerhouse Grupa Azoty Kędzierzyn-Kozle in the re-match in Perugia against the hosts Sir Sicoma Monini, absolute winners of italian Superlega regular season (who are now struggling also in their quarterfinal series against Milano, on Monday the decisive Game 5).
And they did it: after a hard-fought first set, ended 23-25, ZAKSA easily take the second 18-25 to celebrate their access to Superfinals of Turin, Italy, on May 20 in which they’ll face fellow countrymen Jastrzebski Wegiel who yesterday, although the tie break defeat, eliminated Turkey’s Halkbank Ankara.

Defending champions Grupa Azoty ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle secured their place in the Super Final for the third year in a row, today after a 1-3 (23:25, 18:25, 25:19, 25:27) over Perugia.
The Polish team, who won the championship in both 2021 and 2022, was led in score by Bartosz Bednorz who scored 13 points, the same number of Jesus Herrera of Perugia. Meanwhile setter Marcin Janusz received the Most Valuable Player title.

The upcoming Super Final will make history as the first time two Polish teams go head-to-head in a Champions League final.
While Grupa Azoty Kedzierzyn-Kozle want defend their title, Jastrzebski Wegiel will fight to take the first one in club history in a match that promises to be a thrilling encounter for all volleyball fans.

“We are extremely disappointed because we did not play our best. They played better than us in the crucial moments. ZAKSA deserves to be in the final. They played better than us in both matches.
