Italy | Playoffs 5th place – Padova defeat Taranto in four sets and close preliminary Round to the top

Preliminary Round of Playoffs 5th place (and a consequent ticket for the next edition of CEV Challenge Cup) has been completed today with the irrilevant match between Pallavolo Padova and Gioiella Prisma Taranto.
In fact, before this game, the hosts and Top Volley Cisterna shared the top of the standings with the same number of points, 6, but Padova had a better quotient, and Cisterna closed their path on Sunday with a four sets win on the field of the same Gioiella Prisma Taranto.
So any result tonight would still have rewarded the home side with progression to the next stage of the competition.
Either way, Padova celebrated a 3-1 (25:13, 25:21, 22:25, 25:18) win against a rivals penalized by injuries, and with very good numbers: 60% reception, 55% in attack and 14 winning blocks (4 by Canella), while Taranto stop at 50% in reception, 45% in attack and 8 blocks. Also from the service line Padova is better with 6 aces 3 from MVP Gardini), to 2.
The top scorer of the match was a player of Taranto, Greek Andreopoulos, who ended the game with 24 points through 68%, while Davide Gardini scored 21 punti for the winners through 52% in attack, 3 aces and 3 winning blocks.
