Italy: in final Game 3 only Trento – Civitanova KO in just three sets!

Itas Trentino, in front of 4000 fans in their sold out BLM Group Arena, take the lead again in the exciting Final Series of 2022/23 Superlega CredemBanca, and they did it with a clear, very clear, 3-0 (25:17, 25:20, 25:16), in just 79 minutes of play.
On the other hand, defending champions Cucine Lube Civitanova suffered a severe KO after the two battles of the series.
Cherry on the top also Ivan Zaytsev’s injury, who left the field already in first set due a shoulder problem, enough to break the balance. Without his help in reception, in fact, the hosts took advantage above all from the service line, and with the help of veteran Matey Kaziyski, making the first important break on the 15-10 in first set, and 12-7 in the third one, rejecting any attempt of a possible comeback of the rivals.
But the performance in serving was decive also in second set, with two aces from Lavia that marked the break of 21-16.
Looking at the numbers, the story of the match is clear: 8 aces to 0, 9 winning blocks to 2, while Lube’s reception collapsed – only 5% perfect and 21% positive.
Once again Matey Kaziyski, with 18 points to his name, ended the game as top scorer, and was deservedly named MVP of the match followed by Alessandro Michieletto with 15 (including the block on Yant that is worth the 24-19 in second set) and Marko Podrascanin with 10.
Among Civitanova only Gabi Garcia, on the field in place of Zaytsev, and Yant touched the double digit.
Change of date for Game 4, that could be decisive. It will be played on May 12 among fans’ protests, as we protest too, as it was not possible for us (again) to have photogallery of the match.
