Austria: Hypo Tirol win big match against Hartberg at tie break! Ried, Waldviertel, Graz and Aich/Dob ok

All games of Round 9 of 2023/24 Powerfusion Volley League were played today.
Defending champions HYPO TIROL volleyball team won the big match in front of their home fans against current leaders TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg, prevailing at tie break after leading the set 2-0 (25:11, 25:22, 19:25, 22:25, 15:10).
Now they are still three points behind the Styrians, who have played one more game.
HYPO TIROL is now the only undefeated team in the competition!
Top scorers of the day were Luan Weber, who scored as many as 30 points for the winners, and Arthur Nath (18), while Lukas Glatz with 22 and Dmytro Fedorenko with 16 were the most prolific players for Hartberg.
On Wednesday, HYPO TIROL will face Fenerbahce Istanbul for progress to 2023/24 CEV Cup round of 16.
In the first leg they won at the tie-break 21:19, and now they’ll fly to Istanbul!
Because the Innsbruck sidde lost another point, they lost one place in the standings and are now third behind Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel who, in their Stadthalle Zwettl, easily won against last-placed VBK WĂśrther-See-LĂśwen Klagenfurt 3-0 (25:21, 25:19, 25:22) after just 77 minutes of play.
Interestingly, Waldviertel is the only team in the top four that has already played all nine games!
Top scorers of the day Koendert Daan Streutker (26) and Niklas StooĂ (12) for the winners, and Simon FrĂźhbauer (15) and Moritz Nedetzky (7) on the other side of the net.
All easy also for UVC Holding Graz. who literally destroyed TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien, with the same result (25:19, 25:20, 25:18), and is still at fourt place.
Last season runners-up SK Zadruga Aich/Dob also won away in three sets (31:29, 25:20, 25:21) on the field of VBC TLC Weiz to defend fifth place. Top scorers of the day Ulve Steidl and Mark Kremer with 13 each for the hosts, and Kristof Horvath (16) and Noel Krassnig (10) for the winners.
UVC McDonald’s Ried lived up to their role as favorite against VCA Amstetten NĂ, winning in three sets too (25:15, 25:19, 25:22) in their Raiffeisen Volleydome.
Tomasz Rutecki (22) and Markus Berger (11) led the hosts to the victory.
