Austria: Hypo Tirol close to the first seasonal defeat but win at tie break on the field of Graz. 3 points for Wien

Titleholders HYPO TIROL volleyball team remains undefeated in 2023/24 Austrian Powerfusion Volley League, even if in the big match played on Sunday, the Innsbruck side had to fight really hard on the field of UVC Holding Graz!
The hosts dominated the first two sets in their Raiffeisen Sportpark before suffering the rivals’comeback and, after more than two hours and defending a match point, the visiting side was able to celebrate a 3-2 (23:25, 22:25, 25:15, 25:23, 17:15) success and their 13th victory in regular season.
HYPO TIROL is now five points ahead of their closest pursuers TSV Raiffeisen Hartberg with one more game, while Graz remains fourth.
Top scorers of the day were Lorenz Rössl (23), Johannes Kratz (15) and Arwin Kopschar (14) for the hosts, and for the defending champions Luan Weber (20), Niklas Kronthaler (12) and Mihkel Varblane (11).
In the second match played today, TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien achieved its second win in 24 hours.
The seventh place team prevailed over standings neighbors VBK Wörther-See-Löwen Klagenfurt by 3-1 (25:20, 25:18, 26:28, 25:17). The team from country’s capital lost the third set after leading 22:16, but they easily won the decisive fourth one. On Saturday, Sokol defeated Union Raiffeisen Waldviertel in five sets in the Posthalle.
