Italy: what a comeback! Piacenza defeated Milano at tie break to take the 2-1 lead in Quarterfinals series!

Again, more than two and a half hours of play are needed to decide the winner of 2023/24 Superlega CredemBanca quarterfinals Game 3 at Piacenza’s PalaBanca Sport between the hosts Gas Sales Bluenergy and Allianz Milano.
Eventually, it was the home team who celebrate after a game with lot of ups and downs in both sides in which the rivals were ahead 1-2 and even 22-24 in the fourth set, when they canceled 3 match balls, before winning the partial 31-29 after as many as 43 minutes of play.
Then, in decisive tie break, the last roller coaster with Piacenza leading 11-8, before another comeback for Milano: 11-11.
However, it was Yuri Romanò from the service line that close the match with two aces, earning the MVP award.
Yuki Ishikawa’s 21 points and Ferre Regger’s 20 were not enough for Milano, while among the winners to make the difference were 22 points for Yoandy Leal and 19 for Yuri Romanò, even if Simon’s 2 blocks in the fourth set were decisive. He had recorded as many as 9 points from this element in Game 2, a record for a playoff game, and only 2 in game 4, but decisive!
Coach Andrea Anastasi expressed satisfaction with his team’s resilience, acknowledging the challenges faced during the intense match.
Meanwhile, Matey Kaziyski of Allianz Milano lamented the missed opportunity and called for renewed determination from both his team and the supporters in the upcoming battle.
Sunday at 8.30pm at Milano’s Allianz Cloud, Game 4 with the match point for Piacenza and the opportunity for Milano to take the clash to decisive Game 5.
