Italy: Trento takes a commanding lead over Monza in playOff semifinals. Milano triumphs over Perugia in 5 Sets and tied series 1-1!

In Game 2 of SuperLega Credem Banca Playoff Semifinals, regular season winners Itas Trentino secured a very significant victory against MINT Vero Volley Monza, pushing the series to 2-0.
Despite the enthusiastic support of more than 3,500 fans at Monza’s Opiquad Arena, the home team succumbed 1-3 (15:25, 25:21, 18:25, 18:25) in a match that lasted nearly two hours.
The winners showed a very strong game, led in score by Alessandro Michieletto, who left the court with 17 points to his name earning the MVP title.
Monza’s standout players included Eric Loeppky with 19 points, followed by Gianluca Galassi and Arthur Szwarc, each contributing with 13 points. However, their effort was not enough to overcome the rivals’ dominance.
The series now moves to Trento for a decisive Game 3 of best-of-five series, where Monza will face a do-or-die situation to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The next showdown is scheduled for Sunday, April 7th, at the “Il T Quotidiano Arena” in Trento, where Monza aims to turn the tide in this exciting semifinal series.
Allianz Milano clinched a hard-fought victory over Sir Susa Vim Perugia, extending the match to a nail-biting fifth set which ended 20-18 in favor of the home team!
The never ending game, which lasted for three very intense hours, was marked by a series of spectacular plays from both teams and, despite having three match points in the decisive tiebreak, Perugia couldn’t capitalize, allowing the rivals to secure the win with a crucial block by Marco Vitelli.
The match featured closely matched statistics, with both teams securing 10 aces and Milano slightly outperforming Perugia in attack percentage and blocks, underlining the tight clash throughout.
Decisive players for Perugia included Kamil Semeniuk with 25 points to his name, Wassim Ben Tara with 21, and Oleh Plotnytskyi with 19 while, among the winners, Ferre Reggers stood out with an impressive amount of 31 points, playing a pivotal role in their victory as well as a well-deserved MVP award.
With the series now tied, a Game 3 is set for Sunday in Perugia, where both teams will look to gain an advantage in this tightly contested semifinal, and these two will face each others again at Milano’s Allianz Cloud next Thursday.
