Puerto Rico secure 2024 NORCECA Final Four Title

Puerto Rico National Team triumphed over Mexico 3-1 at the NORCECA Men’s Final Four held in Salvador Dijols Coliseum, Ponce, Puerto Rico. Despite losing the first set 23-25, they bounced back with scores of 25-14, 25-22, and 25-21 to secure the gold medal as undefeated team, with a 3-0 score!
Mexico finished at third place with one win and two losses, while the Dominican Republic secured second place with a 2-1 record.
Outside hitter of Puerto Rico Pedro Molina ended the final as top scorer with 22 points, while his teammate Klistan Lawrence also contributed with 19 points to his name.
Mexico’s top scorers were Mauro Fuentes with 13 points and Axel Tellez Rodríguez with 12 points.
In another game, the Dominican Republic won a five-set thriller against Guatemala, finishing 3-2 (25:17, 25:27, 23:25, 25:20, 15:7). Wilfredo Hernández led the score for the winners with 19 points, while José Pérez scored 18 points for Guatemala.
Kevin Rodríguez of Puerto Rico was named MVP and best setter of the tournament.
Pedro Molina received awards for best attacker, best server, and best scorer.
Other awards included Rafael Burgos of the Dominican Republic as best blocker, Henry López as best reception, and Enger Miéses as best defense and libero, while Mexico’s Víctor Parra was recognized as the second-best middle blocker.
