After the advance played on Thursday, in which Alterna SPVB Poitiers finally have a win to celebrate after a four sets win at Narbonne Arena, and other five games played yesterday, in which all winners earned three points, Round 4 of 2026/27 Alterna Volstar has been completed today.

Chaumont Volley-Ball 52 had to dig deep to keep their perfect start to the 2026/27 Alterna Volstar season intact, coming from two sets down to defeat Royan Atlantique Volleyball 3-2 (23:25, 23:25, 25:21, 25:22, 15:12).

What initially looked like a breakthrough opportunity for the visitors turned into a dramatic fight for survival for the home side. Royan, making their debut season in the French top division, made an impressive start, taking the first two sets by identical 25-23 margins and putting Chaumont under serious pressure. With a two-set advantage, the visitors were just one set away from a significant away victory against one of the league’s strongest sides.
Chaumont, however, refused to surrender their unbeaten record. The hosts gradually found their rhythm, taking the third set 25-21 to get back into the match. They maintained the momentum in the fourth, winning 25-22 to force a deciding tie-break and turn the pressure back on Royan.
The fifth set remained a battle, but Chaumont eventually completed the comeback with a 15-12 victory, turning a potentially damaging defeat into two valuable points. The result extended their winning streak to four matches, although for the first time this season they had to settle for a two-point return rather than a full three.

For Royan, the defeat was another reminder of just how competitive their start to life in Ligue A has been.
Their first four league matches have all gone the distance, producing two victories and two defeats, with every contest decided in a tie-break. They opened the campaign by beating Montpellier 3-2, then lost by the same scoreline away to Narbonne before defeating Tours in another five-set encounter. Against Chaumont, they came closer than ever to adding another major result to their collection, only to see their two-set lead disappear.
Despite the disappointment, Royan take another point from a demanding away fixture, confirming their ability to compete with established Ligue A opposition. The challenge now will be to turn those close encounters into more consistent victories.
Chaumont, meanwhile, remain among the leading contenders after four rounds, alongside Toulouse, who had already secured their fourth win of the campaign. The result brings the fourth round to a close and leaves the league with an intriguing early-season storyline: Chaumont’s consistency at the top and Royan’s remarkable run of five-set battles.

Shay Liberman played an impressive game leaving the court with 27 points to his name through 51% in attack, 2 aces and 2 blocks, closely followed by Jacob Pasteur who added 25 through 45% in attack, 2 blocks too and 1 ace.
Maxime Hervoir and Cheik Diop top-scored Royan with 23 and 22 points, respectively.

Alterna Volstar will continue on Thursday, November 5, with the advance of Round 5 between Tourcoing and Sète, while this Tuesday all 1/16 Finals of Coupe de France!
