Austria: Hypo Tirol win Game 1 of final! 7th place for Graz

Super favorite and absolute regular season leaders HYPO TIROL volleyball team won Game 1 of Powerfusion Austrian Volley League final series, against SK Zadruga Aich/Dob on Wednesday evening in their USI-Halle Innsbruck by 3-1 (25:19, 20:25, 25:18, 25:22).
Game 2 will take place on Saturday in the JUFA Arena in Bleiburg.

After a very balanced start (12:12), the hosts managed to take an important lead (21:14) and confidently closed the first set. In the second one it was the Carinthians able to gain the lead (12:6) and also equalize the score at third set ball. In the third set, the Innsbruck side run away from 10:9 to 19:11, showing why they are the favorite for the title, while the rivals, on the other hand, got into trouble and made lot of errors. The 2:1 lead for the home side was the logical consequence.
The hard-fought fourth set was played on a very high level: HYPO TIROL was able to take the lead first, followed by the rivals but, after 14:14, but with four points in a row, 22:20, the hosts got the decisive advantage and, after 108 minutes of play, they used their second match ball to win 3-1 and lead 1-0 in what was supposed to be an exciting “Best-of-7” final series.

Top scorers were Arthur Nath (19), Leon Weber (17) and Nicolai GrabmĂŒller (13) on the winning side, while Jurii Kruzhkov (16), Zlatan Yordanov and Stefan Kaibald (12 each) for Aich/Dob.
The winners wete better in attack, with 54 attack points to 49 (50% to 42%), and in blocking (12 to 7).

And UVC Holding Graz ends the season in seventh place!
Head coach Zoltan Mozer’s players won the second leg on tue field of VBC TLC Weiz 3-0 (25:20, 31:29, 25:16). Graz already won the first leg in five sets in the Raiffeisen Sportpark.
Top scorer among the winners were Michael Ladner (12) and Liam Ochaya (11), and for Weiz Lazar Dodic (11) and Lorenz Rössl (9).
