Hypo Tirol Champions of Austria! Aich/Dob defeated in Game 5

3 min read

HYPO TIROL volleyball team is Champion of Austria champion 2022/2023!
The Innsbruck side won Game 5 of Powerfusion Austrian Vollry League Men final duel with SK Zadruga Aich/Dob in front of more than 1,200 enthusiastic spectators, including ÖVV President Gernot Leitner, in the sold out USI hall, by 3:1 (25:19, 18:25 , 25:21, 25:13) to close the “Best-of-7” series at 4-1.
It was a well-deserved result, as HYPO TIROL had already secured the ÖVV Cup in February, and only lost two games this season. In their home court they even remained undefeated!

Aich/Dob, who was no longer coached by Zoran Kedacic on Saturday, but by sports director Martin Micheu, tried everything to extend the final series and bring it back to Bleiburg. However, HYPO TIROL once again proved to be too strong, and the team of coach Stefan Chrtiansky was able to recover from 14:17 in the third set to turn the result 2:1.
In the fourth set, nothing to do for an exhausted Aich/Dob: after 107 minutes of play, the hosts converted the third match point and secured their eleventh championship title, the first since 2017!
Brazilian opposite Luan Weber was named MVP of the final series, top scorer also today with 22 points.
For Aich/Dob, Stefan Kaibald scored 18 points.

It has been clear since Saturday evening that there will be no relegation from this edition of Bundesliga, as both the first division teams were able to avoid the relegation.
TJ Sokol V/Post SV Wien won the big match game against Supervolley OÖ/Wels/Steyr 3-1 (23:25, 25:16, 25:17, 25:17), canceling all hopes of the second league team to play in next edition of Bundesliga.
After losing the first set, Sokol lived up to their role as favorites and thus remain unbeaten in the relegation round like the leaders VBK WÜrther-See-LÜwen Klagenfurt, who have the same number of points in the standings. The Carinthians had already won on Thursday evening against last-placed VC Hausmannstätten 3-0 (25:18, 25:14, 25:15).
