Mint Vero Volley Monza and Allianz Milano emerged victorious in their respective quarterfinal matchups, booking their tickets to the SuperLega Credem Banca semifinals!
No.5 in regular season Monza defeated No.4 Cucine Lube Civitanova with the score of 1-3 (23:25, 23:25, 25:20, 22:25), led by Stephen Maar spearheaded their effort and securing the MVP title with an impressive tally of 22 points, which included 6 blocks. His performance together with Ran Takahashi (18) and Arthur Szwarc (14), was decisive in guaranteeing Monza’s spot in the upcoming season of the European CEV Cup, and this marks the second consecutive year they will appear in European competition.
Among the hosts, Aleksandar Nikolov and Marlon Yant closed the game with 19 each, while Adis Lagumdzija, starting from the bench, scored 10 points.
In another Game 5, Allianz Milano showed an exceptional team to overpower Gas Sales Bluenergy Piacenza with a clean sweep of 0-3 (21:25, 21:25, 22:25), in a victory significantly propelled by the performances of Japanese superstar Yuki Ishikawa, who left the court with 18 points to his name including the last two that closed the game, and Ferre Reggers, who also contributed with 16, solidifying Milano’s place in the semifinals.
Milano’s coach praised the team’s perfect execution, while Piacenza’s Andrea Anastasi expressed disappointment over his team’s performance, acknowledging it as the least balanced match of the series.
