Italy: Trento and Perugia win Game 1 of Semifinals!

Semifinals best-of-five series of 2023/24 Superlega CredemBanca started today, on Easter day, and with predictions respected, as regular season winners Itas Trentino and their closest pursuers Sir Susa Vim Perugia both celebrated victories.
At ilT quotidiano Arena in Trento, defending champions defeated Mint Vero Volley Monza in just three sets, 3-0 (27:25, 25:20, 25:22).
In front of almost 3.300 home fans, the hosts confirmed themselves better than the rivals, at least on their home soil, in which they defeated them for the 18th time in 18 games played in Trento!
Despite Monza started better in first set, even taking a 19-22 lead, then canceled thanks to the hosts’ serves, 24-24, until the decisive 27-25 with 2 aces from Lavia.
In fact, to make the difference, was the performance from the service line, with 9 aces and just 11 errors, but also the attack, with 17 points each from Kamil Rychlicki and Alessandro Michieletto, named MVP of the game, and 15 from Daniele Lavia.
Without Stephen Maar, out due a facial contusion, Monza tried to reopen the game until the end, mostly thanks to Eric Loeppky (20) and Nik Mujianovic (9), who started from the bench, but they were not enough.
In a very very very hot PalaBarton, with as many as 4576 volleyball fans on Easter Day, the hosts of Sir Susa Vim Perugia celebrated a 3-1 (25:17, 25:23, 23:25, 25:22) win over Allianz Milano.
After a dominated first set, thw game became very interesting, with Perugia who won in extremis second set, and Milano did the same in third one. In fourth set, decisive in final points, the hosts’ serving with an ace from Roberto Russo and another from MVP Wassim Ben Tara (22 points with 4 aces and 62% in attack), the one that closed the game. Double digit also for Oleh Plotnytskyi (18 points including 3 winning blocks), and 8 through 80% attack and 3 blocks for a great Roberto Russo. Kamil Semeniuk left tue court with 9 points, and decisive in fourth set also Sebastian Solè and Wilfredo Leon (6 points and 2 ace), who started from the bench. Ferre Reggers was the most prolific player for Milano, while Yuki Ishikawa and Matey Kaziyski added 10 each.
Both games 2 are scheduled on Wednesday, starting from 8.30pm local time.
