Türkiye: Ziraat one step to 5th title! Galatasaray defeated at tie break after an epic comeback in Game 2

After a four sets win in Game 1 at home, regular season absolute winners Ziraat Bankkart won also Game 2 of 2025/26 SMS Grup Efeler Ligi final best-of-five series after an epic comeback from 2-0 on the field of Galatasaray HDI Sigorta, 2-3 (25:23, 25:17, 19:25, 11:25, 9:15).
Ziraat is thus one step from 5th National title after 2020/21, 2021/22, 2022/23 and 2024/25!
Galatasaray opened strongly at TVF Burhan Felek Vestel Volleyball Hall, taking first two sets, appearing in control after building an early advantage.
Ziraat, however, replied improving their rhythm in attack and tightened their defense to claim the third set, before dominating the fourth to level the contest.
The momentum remained with the Ankara club in the deciding fifth set, where Ziraat Bankkart stayed composed under pressure to complete the comeback to move within one win of the league crown.
Nimir Abdelaziz led the winners with 24 points, while Tomasz Fornal added 18 points and Trevor Clevenot left the court with 14.
Galatasaray was led by Jean Patry with 21 points, while Stephen Maar also contributed with 16 and Thomas Jaeschke added 11.
Ziraat Bankkart also held the advantage in overall attacking production, recording 58 points in attack to Galatasaray’s 47, proving decisive in the closing stages.
Game 3 on the field of today’s winners on Monday, April 27.
