France: Round 6 is over. Montpellier and Tourcoing ko! 3 points for Paris, Narbonne, Nice and Cannes

After two advances played yesterday, won by titleholders Saint Nazaire and Poitiers, both away, Round 6 of 2024/25 Marmara Spike League has been completed today with the others 4 scheduled games, with lot of upsets.
In a game that closed this round, Narbonne caused major sensation after defeating current leaders and Supercup winners Montpellier, in a game ended in just three sets, partially 31:29, 25:23 and 25:16.
In front of almost 2500 home fans at Narbonne Arena, the winners showed a great game in attack, with 74% of team performance, led in score by Casey Schouten, top scorer with 14 points to his name, all in attack, through 78%, and Tanguy Duoud, who added 11 through 80%, 1 ace and 6 of his team’s 8 winning blocks. Nicolas Le Goff was the only player in double digit on the losing side leaving the court with 10 points.
Despite this unexpected defeat, because for Narbonne this was their second seasonal success, Montpellier remained to the top of the standings, taking advance to the another upset of the day, as Tourcoing, undefeated so far, suffered their first loss, at home, against Paris, also in straight sets (19:25, 23:25, 22:25)!
Nik Mujanovic and Shikun Peng led the charge scoring 21 (58% in attack, with 1 ace and 1 block) and 15 (73% in attack with 2 aces and 5 blocks) points for the winners, who led the game from start to finish without major problems. Only in second set they suffered the rivals’ comeback, but eventually they managed to close it with the minimum gap.
But another game ended in straight sets, with newcomers Cannes who won 0-3 (20:25, 23:25, 21:25) on the field of a today disappointing Sète, breaking their winning streak consisting in three games (Nice, Poitiers and Paris, respectively).
Reda Haikal, top scorer and MVP of the match, left the court with 16 points to his name through 64% in attack, well supported by Marco Pierotti who added 14 through 60% in attack and 5 of his team’s 8 aces.

Cannes now is at fourth place in the standings with 11 points, ahead Nice, who, with 10, also earned three points today with a 1-3 (25:17, 20:25, 23:25, 15:25) on the field of last-placed and still winless Plessis Robinson, after 2 hours and 1 minute of play.
Simon Hirsch and Alexandros Raptis led the winners with 19 (56% in attack and 1 ace) and 17 (64% in attack, 1 ace and 2 winning blocks) pointa, respectively, but double digit also for Nooa Marttila, who added 10.
